Well here I had tried how to make Whoopie Pies after heard it from the bake along. It is 1st time heard of it and want to have a try and how does it taste :) ?  It looks like sandwich cookies! But it is not like cookies fully because it is very soft alike cake.Whoopie pie is baked good and tasted like cake made up of  round shaped two discs alike with sweet cream or cream cheese or frosting sandwiched between them. It is purely originated in the U.S.A.

I have tried to make it as own recipe as Vanilla Strawberry (White) and Chocolate (Black)  whoopie pie with Vanilla Buttercream frosting :) Here is the recipe as below. You can make any thing such as peppermint or chocolate or cream cheese frosting or store bought cream frosting..It is easy to make it :)

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter(Room Temperature)
  • 1 Cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 Cups All purpose Flour Plus 1 Tablespoon for covering the chopped strawberries.
  • 1/3 Cup Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Buttermilk
  •  1/4 Cup Instant coffee for Chocolate whoopie pie.
  • Freshly chopped Strawberries - A few
Notes : You can reduce half of the measurements.

Method:

Here is the image as shown :

  • In a wide bowl,Add Flour,Baking powder,Baking soda and salt,Sift it twice
  • Using an electric mixer or hand mixer,Beat the butter and sugar on medium heat for about 2 minutes until it is light and fluffy.
  • Add a egg and beat well
  • Add Vanilla extract and beat well until it is all incorporated.
  • Add half of the dry ingredients mixture into the butter mixture.Beat it on low speed.
  • Once it is almost incorporated, Add butter milk.
  • Continue to beat on low speed until all the ingredients are well incorporated
  • I had added few strawberries atleast 6,covered it with flour and put into the white vanilla batter
  • Divide the batter into halves one is vanilla and other one is for making chocolate
  • In that bowl,Add cocoa powder with warm water instant coffee to it and mix well.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 F or 180 C
  • If you don't have a Whoopie Pan set then no problem Take 2 piping bags, transfer the vanilla  batter to it and transfer the chocolate batter to the another piping bag..Cut small holes of the bottom of the piping bag.
  • Make small shaped alike dome by pressing it on the greased baking sheet or line the baking sheet with parchment paper.Leave a space 2 inches apart then continue it.
Also an alternative method
  • Spoon  atleast 2 Tablespoons of vanilla batter on the baking sheet. Also for chocolate batter too the same.
  • If you have a whoopie pie pan,Grease it with baking spray or butter.
  • Spoon 2 Tablespoons of batter into each cavity.
  • Spread it around the edges
  • Batter should be 2/3 full.
  • Bake it for about 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Allow it to cool on the cooling rack for about 10 minutes
For Making Filling:

Notes: You can buy store bough of your favorite butter cream.

Vanilla Butter Cream

  • A pinch of Salt(If you don' t want over sweet)

Method:

  • Mix all the ingredients except milk.
  • Add milk gradually once it is medium consistency.
  • Add food coloring if you want.( I did not add )
  • Mix well until the color is set.
To Assemble:

  • Take a piping bag with a tip 12,Transfer the buttercream to it.
  • Pipe it on one chocolate or vanilla cake and sandwich with another cake vice versa..
